Hibiscus Coast mosaic artist Sonya Young is renowned for her vibrant use of colour, texture, and found objects, transforming everyday materials into distinctive and expressive works of art. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of discarded and overlooked fragments, her practice celebrates renewal, storytelling, and the unexpected relationships between materials.

This latest exhibition marks an exciting new direction in Sonya's artistic journey. Expanding beyond traditional mosaic techniques, she explores the dynamic qualities of crushed and shattered glass, embracing both its fragility and brilliance. Layers of fractured colour catch and reflect light, creating works that shimmer with movement and depth. Through this process, broken pieces are reimagined and transformed into striking compositions that speak of resilience, beauty, and transformation.

Each artwork is a unique, one-off creation, inviting viewers to look closely and discover the intricate details, textures, and stories embedded within the surface. This collection showcases Sonya's ongoing fascination with colour and materiality while revealing a bold new chapter in her creative practice.
