About
The Painter - Patsy Fisher
Simple Art
My work is very simple
I paint it ‘how it is’
Why ‘muck around’ with creation and get yourself in a ‘tizz’!
I really get excited when I look around
My fingers get all itchy to paint -
to try and put it ‘down’ -
Every day the view is different -
the ever changing light!
I faithfully try to record it -
working day and night.
Nothing needs to be explained, it’s there for all to see -
The colours are magnificent - it all blends perfectly -
I can’t understand - who’d want to change the beauty that they see -
The world is so magnificent - it’s overwhelming me.
With a 1/2 inch brush I’m ready to paint what I see around -
We can’t improve on nature - it upsets me to distort the facts -
Perfection's been created - now who can deny that!
The Dynamic Duo
The Painter and the Potter - now that really has a ring -
The Painter and the Potter - we hope our work will sing -
we love what we are doing -
we’re ‘at’ it everyday -
When everything is going right - housework gets in the way!
Thank you - thank you - Estuary Art we really want to say -
Your encouragement to both of us -
Means our work can go on display.
The Potter - Gail Smith
I fell in love with ceramics the very first time I sat at a potters wheel and held a lump of clay, just before covid lockdown. After two failed attempts at attending pottery classes, due to lockdowns I purchased my very own potters wheel, what a joy! I slowly taught myself from the many wonderful potters on youtube.
Two years on I acquired a kiln and set up a studio in the garden of my home, my new Sanctuary!
I love simple, but beautiful functional pottery and get lots of inspiration from the environment, mainly the beautiful beaches here on the Whangaparaoa peninsula. My love of the sea and the rock pools and sand inspire some of my pieces, especially the colours and scenes, which lately I have incorporated on some bowls and mugs.
My latest addiction is lighthouses! Just plain white for me! Red, blue and black striped ones for my upcoming mini exhibition. There are numerous possibilities in the pipeline. I’m thinking seagulls? Only time will tell.
