Stories of the Sea
Preview and opening: Saturday 06 June from 3pm to 5pm
Artists Olga Horne, Irina Azizian, Tamara Azizian, and Larissa come together in a captivating exhibition that explores the many moods, forms, and narratives of the seascape. While united by a shared inspiration drawn from the ocean, each artist brings a distinct creative voice and approach, resulting in a collection that is both harmonious and richly contrasting.
Larissa's intricate native wood carvings celebrate the beauty and character of Aotearoa's natural materials, transforming timber into finely crafted works that echo the rhythms and textures of the coastal environment. Olga's expressive abstract paintings capture the emotion, movement, and energy of the sea, while Irina's realistic works reveal its detail, atmosphere, and ever-changing light with remarkable sensitivity.
Complementing these larger works, Tamara presents a series of intimate drawings and studies that explore form, texture, and observation through a variety of drawing media. Together, the artists offer diverse perspectives on the seascape, inviting viewers to experience the ocean through multiple lenses of interpretation, memory, and imagination.
