Wheel Throwing & Sculpting with Sylvia

Wednesday, from 8 October to 26 November 12:30pm to 3:15pm (8 Weeks)

Starts 8 Oct
302 New Zealand dollars

Class Description

Come and join Sylvia Sinel and have a go at using the pottery wheel to throw different shapes and develop your skills in your hand-building practice. We’ll throw lots of different forms to later use for building and creating magical and quirky sculptures. To get the most out of this class you don't have to be an expert in wheel throwing but semi confidence is recommended. You’ll get a lot of wheel exercise in the process, so you will most likely end up a better thrower afterwards, no matter current skill level. Sylvia is a ceramic artist and sculptor who has recently relocated to the area. She often uses wheel thrown pieces in her sculptural work. You can find out more about her and her practise on www.sylviasinel.com Price Breakdown: Members $287.38 incl. GST, $35.92 per session ( $13.06 per hour) Non members $302.50 incl. GST, $37.81 per session ($$13.75 per hour) Members: Current EAC members will receive 5% discount. Please use your membership number as the PROMO code. Prerequisites: Beginners / all welcome. Supplies: Basic tool kit can be purchased from Kmart / any 2Dollar store or at the Estuary Arts Centre. Please bring an apron, a hand towel and some plastic bags. Clay can be purchased from EAC on the day. Firing and glazing cost extra.
