Class Description

This Mixed Media class is all about having fun, connecting teens and adults with other teens /adults, finding out about your artistic style, trying different things and learning new arts and crafts techniques. Suitable for absolute beginners. Mixed Media Adult Art Lessons: You will be exploring colours, shapes and compositions while getting to know your own artistic style! Learn to use different art and craft techniques to create unique artworks. We will be exploring collage, pastels, wax and dye and vinyl/woodblock printing. This mixed media class is about creating fun and functional artworks that are inspired by your own artistic voice. The goal is to help you create artwork you love! We will be having fun nights connecting and investigating why you like art and how to create art you like!This is for people who want to have some fun, are new to art or might not enjoy ‘painting’ or don’t fit in as a ‘typical’ artist but want to express their creativity! All artistic backgrounds and abilities are welcomed! Bring your friends along and have a fun night learning new and fun art techniques! Lesson 1 : Collage and shapes - why do you like art? Paper Collage Lesson 2: Dye and Shapes - exploring compositions on textiles. Wax and dye on textiles Lesson 3: Oil pastels and shapes - What do colours say? Oil pastels. Lesson 4: Oil pastels and art movements - what techniques can we use to push our work further? Oil pastels. Lesson 5: Oil pastels and practice - use the techniques to draw real life, maybe a face! Oil pastels. Lesson 6: Wood block and vinyl printing - introducing a fun way to make art. Lino cut/wood cut printing. Lesson 7: Wood block and vinyl printing - Taking it a little further. Lino cut/wood cut printing. Lesson 8: Everything and Anything - using what we’ve done for one last big artwork. Lino cut/wood cut printing. Prerequisites: All welcome. Supplies: What to bring - Oil pastel set - Coloured paper and old magazines to contribute to collage night - Bits of plain material to contribute to printing onto fabric (can be small, A5 to A3 size is great) - Piece of vinyl / lino for vinyl cutting - Set of vinyl cutting tools (simple set) - Pastel paper… or coloured bits of card that you like the colour!
