Class Description
Art for Wellbeing Therapy Class will be run by Lorraine Beven (MA.(Ath). ArthR (Hons), BA. BUS.Psych. Cert.Soc.Work.Dip.Law). Specialising in Wellbeing and resilience, Creative Curiosity, Self-esteem and personal development, Communication and coping strategies. Journaling for wellbeing is now widely used by art therapists because creativity in all its forms has been shown to unlock areas of the subconscious and in turn may contribute to unpacking deeply buried concerns and hurts. Creative journaling is often referred to as 'soul medicine'. Art therapy supports wellbeing by offering a creative way to explore emotions, experiences, and inner conflicts. Through drawing, painting, collage, or other artistic forms, individuals can express feelings that may be difficult to articulate through words alone. This gentle process creates space for emotional release and self-discovery, allowing people to better understand their internal world. Art therapy through personal, creative journalling blends creative expression with introspection, offering a gentle pathway to emotional clarity and self-understanding. By combining imagery, colour, symbols, and written reflections, individuals can externalise their inner experiences in a way that feels both safe and intuitive. This process allows difficult emotions or unspoken thoughts to surface indirectly, making them easier to explore without the pressure of finding the “right” words. Engaging regularly in creative journalling can also support stress reduction and emotional regulation. The physical act of drawing or writing slows the mind, grounding attention in the present moment. Over time, patterns begin to emerge—recurring images, themes, or colours—that help individuals recognise what nourishes them and what depletes them. This awareness becomes a foundation for making healthier choices and building resilience. Finally, art-based journalling fosters a deeper sense of connection with oneself. It becomes a private space where personal growth is documented, celebrated, and better understood. Flipping back through pages of sketches, collages, and reflections reveals not only emotional shifts but also creative evolution. In this way, art therapy journalling becomes more than a coping tool—it grows into an ongoing conversation with the self, supporting well-being, empowerment, and inner balance. All materials will be provided NO MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT. This first class will focus on those who are caregivers.
